
Alabama has earned the top ranking for workforce development in the South Central Region, according to Site Selection Magazine’s 2022 Workforce Development Rankings. Site Selection is an internationally circulated business publication that focuses on economic development and corporate real estate.
In its January 2022 edition, Editor in Chief Mark Arend shares the publication’s 2022 Regional Workforce Development Rankings. The regional rankings evaluate “which states have the workforce apparatus most likely to be of use to those seeking jobs and to those on the recruitment side of the table.” In short:
- Alabama is placed in the South Central region along with Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.
- The 2022 rankings move Alabama to first place within the South Central region. That is a jump from sixth place in the 2021 rankings.
- The rankings are based on an index of objective criteria that apply to all 50 states and indexes.
Alabama has consistently been a leader in workforce resources, industry-friendly policies, and growth which has attracted companies like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Facebook, Google, and ULA.
