What is FAME?
The Alabama FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) program blends classroom instruction with on-site experience at the world-class manufacturing facilities in North Alabama. The AMT (Advanced Manufacturing Technician Program) pathway includes a two-year associate degree that combines a cutting-edge curriculum, paid working experience, along with learning highly sought-after business principles and best practices of world-class manufacturers.
North Alabama is home to three FAME chapters hosted by
- Calhoun Community College
- Northwest-Shoals Community College
- Wallace State Community College
Over two years, students can earn as much as $33,500, which with planning can cover all of a student’s education expenses. There are also potential grants and financial aid. While not guaranteed, there will be opportunities for the sponsor company to hire graduates as full time employees. Graduates of the AMT program will be equipped with the needed skills and experience that many manufacturing companies are actively seeking.
